Calgary Brake Inspection

The brakes are perhaps the most important part of your vehicle for keeping you safe in any season. In the winter, they’re critical for preventing accidents before they happen. When not in proper working condition, everyone on the road is less safe. At Bowest Motors, we take great care in making sure your brakes are in optimal condition, keeping you and your passengers as safe as possible.

A brake inspection includes a check of your anti-lock brake systems (ABS), brake lining thickness and brake rotor/drum condition. As you may know, modern vehicles with ABS prevent the wheels from locking to prevent loss of control and skidding, and they are the most common style of brakes installed in vehicles today. Given our over 60 years of experience in brake repair and maintenance, we do have significant knowledge of older brake systems as well. Of course, we also check your emergency brakes to make sure the fail-safe always has your back.

While we do recommend bringing your vehicle in for a few check-ins ahead of the winter season, there are some signs wherein we recommend you bring your car in for a brake inspection right away:

●       Brake response time is reduced – more time is required to bring the car to a full stop

●       Grinding noise or other unusual noise when using brakes

●       Leaking brake fluid

●       The vehicle pulls to one side

●       The brake light has turned on

Additionally, if it’s been over six months since you had your last brake inspection, we recommend you bring in your vehicle. This is roughly the same amount of time you’ll want to rotate your tires and have an oil change, which we would be delighted to complete at the same time!

Our efficient booking system allows you to quickly schedule an appointment. If you want some more information on pricing or our wheel alignment procedures, please give us a call at (403) 288-4426 or send us an email.
